Where to Play...

What is the Syracuse Smartphone Trivia League!

Enjoy a night out with friends, family, and co-workers to test your knowledge in a fast-paced trivia environment with minute-to-win-it challenges in between for a competitive twist!

How To Play!

  • It's FREE TO PLAY, open to the public, and run by one of our award-winning Masters of Ceremonies as your host.

  • Teams are limited to no more than 8 players.

  • One person on each team must have the SpeedQuizzing Virtual Buzzer App downloaded on their smartphone or tablet device. You can download the app in the App Store or Google Play Store.

  • Questions are read over a PA system to everyone in the space, and teams will have no more than 10 seconds to answer. The host will give all the necessary instructions during the event.

  • There are 4 rounds, and each round has a different format:
    • Round 1 - Keypad (15 questions)
      • In this round, questions are answered by pressing either the correct letter for a multiple choice question, the first letter of a person, place or thing, or by punching in a correct number using a keypad. The same goes for a picture/sound question. Teams with the correct answer are rewarded 4 points and the fastest team to answer correctly gets one bonus point.
    • Round 2 - Buzzin' (15 questions)
      • In this round, the first team to buzz in gets to guess. Once the first team gives their answer, all other teams have 10 seconds to either AGREE (by hitting their buzzer again within the 10-second countdown) or DISAGREE (not hitting the buzzer during the 10-second countdown) with the first team's answer. The first team will either be awarded 10 points for a correct answer or lose 10 points for an incorrect answer. All other teams will be awarded or lose 5 points depending on if they got it right or wrong.
    • Round 3 - Nearest Wins (10 questions)
      • In this round, each team has 10 seconds to take their best guess and enter their numeric answer using the keypad and hitting enter to submit it. The team closest to the correct answer will receive 30 points.
    • Round 4 - Keypad (20 questions)

  • Between rounds, we feature "Minute To Win It" games where each team sends up one (or sometimes two) representatives to try and complete a challenge in one minute or less. Teams that are successful in the challenge are awarded 50 points.

  • Games typically last 2 hours. We recommend arriving 30 minutes early to make sure you have a seat and that you can connect to the game hub. This is also a great time to order some food and drink as there are always specials on trivia nights!

  • At the end of the night, prizes are awarded to the top team, and their team photo will be posted on our social media channels for all to see!

  • League Standings are updated at the end of each night in our Blog as well as in our Facebook Group. All teams that compete each night are eligible to become the Syracuse Smartphone Trivia League Champion for the season! A season lasts 12 weeks. League Champions get some pretty cool prizes - as well as bragging rights for the next 12 weeks!
